UNUSUAL EVENTS:

This was early in WWII when there was fear of the Japanese attacking the west  coast by air.  Watch towers were erected and manned by volunteers at night. I  was about 8 or 9 remember spending several hours on a shift one night (since boys my age were considered experts in aircraft) with my father and a neighbor watching for enemy aircraft. I remember being very disappointed since not a single aircraft (friendly or unfriendly) appeared.
