William Shaw history

Posted by Darien Dudek <DDudek@igate.com> on Wed, 28 May 2003, in response to William Shaw family, posted by Tom McConnell on Thu, 01 Aug 2002

I recently purchased a home that was built around 1820's-1850's. When researching the deeds, I found that the home was owned by a William Shaw at one time. I believe that William shaw owned the home in the 1850's and moved the entire home by horses on logs to it's current location. Do you know if there was a william Shaw in your family that once lived in the Lawrenceville area? Do you know if he was prominent in the history of Pittsburgh? (It would have taken a wealthy person to afford to move a house of this size) Thank you for your help.....Darien
