  I have a large Mary Botto painting approximately 26" x 39". It is a scene of a seaside village, but not the sea. The painting depicts a view from under 3 large high arches as one would look out at some scattered old buildings from under the arches. In the background is a small vague image of a sailboat, and in the foreground are 5 people without detail.

    I couldn't find info on a painting I acquired at a thrift shop... A Mary Botto. I tried everything under her name.
    I came across an antiques shop list of people (about 15 or more) who were looking for this artist. I gave up for awhile. Then when I tried to find that "antiques shop" website, I couldn't find it. Here's how I found what I was looking for... I have an appros. 39x50 oil with a windmill in the center. This time I searched "windmill botto" and found the picture I was looking for, only it was an 16x18" with the windmill and portions of the other structures I was looking for. I'm guessing the 16x18 was a "dry run" so to speak. Pick your subject and start there. Good luck! And... if you have the means, try to alert the others who are looking for this artist.

      I am also looking for info on Mary Botto.My Painting has a twist. It is signed by 2 artist Mary Botto abd Anthony Ausgang. It has a title and a date Freak n Out In Paris 3/92. I can find info on Anthony Ausgang (some movie stars collect his work) who is describe as a lowbrow artist and his contribution is obvious of a colorful cat , and the backfground scene must be Mary Botto. But that is all I know

    I've too just purchased a large Mary Botto painting of a Paris street scene. The price was right, the colors lively and the painting well executed.

    The signiture matches exactly with several others I've seen on the web ... but my guess is that she was from the "Starving Artist" ranks of painters and painted hundreds, or perhaps even thousands of paintings in the style we all seem to be drawn to and enjoy.

    The paintings are what they are ... affordable, yet beautiful and are worth our admiration ... which is why I purchased mine. My advice is for purchasers of her work is to just enjoy and not give too much thought to dollar value!

    [ Another thought ... her name could be an acronym ..RE: "M"...many "A"... artists "R"... rendering .... ect!]

      a friend of mine acquired 2 paintings,both are of ships in a small harbour. the backs of the paintings have the no's 5/27451 and 5/27452.John Mac

    Well it seems I'm not the only one looking for info on this painting I have. I just bought an oil painting at my local goodwill depicting a street scene in what looks like Paris or some other quaint European city. Sounds similiar to what other people have described. I am redecorating my bedroom and this painting is perfect. I am not sure what anyone paid for their paintings, but I didn't pay hardly anything for mine.

    I have a friend who has the ability and resources to dig a little deeper and hopefully find out about this woman. So if anyone has a picture of their Botto painting they can send me, please do so or if anyone is looking to get rid of one for a reasonable price let me know too as I would love something similiar to the picture I have for my other wall in my bedroom.   I purchased a painting by mary botto about 25 years ago she had her works on display in restaurant my wife and i use to frequent ..large painting..notre dame towers in the backround people walking in the streets with horse and buggys just caught my eye been over my firepalce ever since any input would be greatly appreciated....43x31in size

    I have one on my wall...Notre Dame on the left in the backround. Book stalls, people walking, etc. 43 X 31 framed.

    Like many of the others, found in a Garage sale a few years ago. Signed, no date. I like it because it reminds me of trips to Paris but I just assumed it was one of those "Sofa Paintings" you bought in the Holiday Inn Starving Artist Sales. I don't know anything about Mary Botto other than the snippits being picked from these messages...they have been going on for a few years now!!
