Have reams of information re our sur Name, VanEtten, Vanatta, etc, from our original fore father who came to New Amsterdam, approx 1653, had a family of ten, five boys, I decend from the youngest of them, Jacobus VanEtten, before that the name was Jacobusen, chaned to VanEtten, when the British took New Amsterdam and renamed it New York, they took a personel census and then our forefather changed it to VanEtten, that was the place he was from in Holland, atter,
