who is my father ? JOE?

I am looking for my unknown Father , the only info I have is that he was a singer in the washington DC area in the early 50's ,first name Joe and he was Itailin?
My mother was Gloria Elaine Johnson , they were never married. She went back to north carolina to have me.
She used a friends ID , so my birth certicate says James Michael Roberts (which is no relation. I was born in Hope Mill,NC at the Reeves clinic 11/03/1951
I went by Michael Joseph Bell till my teens and I was re-registered in school as James Michael Bell. I grew up in nebraska ,attended school there.
My mother would never tell me my fathers name, she took that secret to her grave. I did talk to the lady who's name she used, but she could not remember my fathers name, just that he was good looking.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated
