looking for my dad

hi i am nearly 50years old and have never known my dad as my mum has kept this secret from me and i dont know why i dont know his first name but i think his surname may have been larking can anyone help me i am desperate and am close to giving up but know that if i do i will always be wondering and i dont want to leave it to late in case he passes away because if he is alive he would be in his 70-80's
