family history

Hello-
My name is Laura Boddie Meyers. I am very interested in finding my family lineage. I never met him but am told that my paternal grandfather's name was JACKSON LESTER BODDIE. I know that their are ties to Maryland, Tennessee, and maybe somewhere in the midwest. For me this would be a lone search. Other family members are not interested. If you can give me any leads it would be greatly appreciated.
