Stott - Nationality

Posted by William Stott <wgrstott@aol.com> on Mon, 30 Jan 2006, in response to Stott what nationality, posted by vi on Wed, 11 Jan 2006

Read articles by Dr. Richard Stott (Ca.) about origins of Stott. STOTI tribe were viking raiders (Stot = cattle/stock) possibly herdsmen. Seemed to be two early settlements, into mid-Scotaland, and into Lancashire (mid-west England)- esp. in 12th Century. Migration of one family into West Yorkshire in 17th Century. Seems to be concentrations now in Mid-East Scotland; Northumberland and Durham; Lancashire; Yorkshire; Somerset; Utah (from Mormon Convert pioneers William Stott and family in 1840's)
