All about Steve: (He may have been called Bobbie until his adoption.)Stephen Wood Spencer
Born 11/2/1947
San Diego Naval Hospital in San Diego, California
Placed in a foster home on 12/24/1947
Adopted in California on 12/22/1948
Stephen (adoptive name) was born 11/2/1947 at the San Diego Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. The pregnancy and delivery were normal and Stephen weighed 8 lbs. at birth. He was placed in an agency foster home on 12/24/1947. On 12/8/1948 he weighed 24 lbs. and was 30 3/4 inches tall. He was a very attractive boy with blond curly hair and blue eyes. He began walking at Thanksgiving time in 1948. He was placed in his adoptive home in California on 12/22/1948. His adoptive parents were Chester Lee Spencer and Fontelle Caster Spencer. Stephen has a large birth mark on his left inner thigh. He may have been named Bobbie prior to his adoption. He is allergic to wool.
Steve's birth mother was 19 years old when he was born. She was an attractive girl with green eyes, auburn hair and a light complexion. She had one brother and two sisters. Her mother was of Canadian descent and her father was English. Brown eyes and dark brown hair predominated in the family. She worked as a waitress in California where she met the baby’s birth father, who was 27 years old and a Sergeant in the armed forces. He was a good looking young man of average height, blonde hair and blue eyes. He was said to have attended college and was employed as a mechanic. He had a younger brother and his father owned a restaurant. When he learned of the baby, he revealed that he was married and gave his consent to Stephen's adoption. The relationship between the birth mother and father ceased.
Shortly before Stephen was born, his birth mother met and fell in love with a young service man stationed in California and they were married. They authorized Stephen’s adoption to a good family in California.
After her husband's discharge, they moved to Ohio, which was her husband's home.
I am a friend of Steve’s and am helping him find any blood relatives. His adoptive father has passed away and his adoptive mother is in a nursing home at this time. Please contact me if you have any information that would help in this quest. Ann
