Joanes Henry Thole b abt 1824 and Maria Christina Grawe of Mappen/Hanover/Westphalia had children Maria Anna b 2/13/1855, John b abt 1861 and Joseph H. b abt 1860.Maria Anna Thole (my ggrandmother) came to the U.S. as a servant girl to the Konrad Kander family. She married Johannes Joseph Bodewick at Melrose Twp., Quincy, Illinois in St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in 1875. She spoke low german, high german and a mixture of Dutch, according to my father. I have seen a photo taken of her parents home in Germany when she was a baby. It is a brick home.
I'd like to hear more about this family and the Grawe family.
