Looking for ancestors of my Miguez family who came here to New Iberia, Louisiana as colonists in the 1700. He left a son, Joseph Miguez in Spain, they were never re-united. He was a native of San Salvador de Febra, Bishopic or Tuy and a resident of the city of Malaga, the parish of San Juan. He left at the age of 30. They sailed out of Malaga on the 5th of June 1778 on the brig St Joseph. My ancestor was Juan Miguez and his wife Salvadora de Quero twenty five years old. They took their youngest son with them, his name was Salvador Miguez. Is there anyone who has connection that can find information about Joseph Miguez or his descendants? Who were Juan Miguez's parents and grandparents? Who were Salvadora de Quero's parents and grandparents, any help will be appreciated. Thanks Cecile D. Hebert

Hello!
My husbands last name is Miguez and they are from Cuba. The last name is very uncommon in Miami, FL. I do know that his family was originally from Spain and they immigrated to Cuba in the late 1800's. I hope this information helps you out.

The ancestor of my mother's mother came from Malaga, Spain in the 1600's, so my source tells me.
When the wind was right, they set sail. Their older boy had
evidently gotten off the ship, so our line came from the younger. My great grandmother's maiden name was Ezilea Miguez. Her sister was Elice and brother was Clerthy.
My grandmother married into the DeRouen family.
One of my mother's cousins was Dudley J. LeBlanc.
Do any of these sound familiar?

  My mother was Hattie Miguez, descended from Salvadore. There were 3 brothers who sailed for Spain and were nephews of the King. Salvadore settled New Iberia for "New Spain". My grandfather's name was Eugene'.

My father in law was from Port Arthur, Tx (Henry Miguez). His Father John Miguez was from New Iberia. His father was the sheriff in New Iberia when he was growing up but I do not know his name. They are both deceased. John was born in 1901. I would like more information for my children.
