Looking for any information the McDines, Andy, Lydia. Andy came from Ireland to Muncie Indiana and Lydia came from Muncie Indiana also. They moved to West Union, Ohio. I am currently checking the census for Adams County, Ohio right now. But everything I have tried has come up empty handed. Don't know where else to look. Going to Adams County next week.

Hi Kimberley,
I have been trying for a long time to trace my family tree but with little success. All I know is that according to my grandfather three brothers left Ireland and settled in the North East of England. Working back in time I reckon this must have been sometime around the 1850's. Perhaps they and Andy were in some way related?
Strangely I couldn't even find any McDines in the telephone directory in Dublin.

I am from Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom. The name McDine is linked to migrating Irish workers after the great hunger. McDines from Tyneside have a history in coal mining and ship building. Check out www.dmm.org.uk/famhist.htm

The name McDines stems from the Norman invasion of Ireland in the 12th century, Baron Le Dines hence the Irish Gaelic Mc son of.
I am from the west coast of Scotland and i have to say that there is few of us around!

I believe the name originates from Newcastle. Its nice to see that there are a few more McDine's in the world. It is quite an unusual name so I think we should all congratulate ourselves as we are a very rare breed indeed! Im sure you all have freckles as well...As for me I am from carrot cruncher Hampshire.

Hello!! I am rohon's sister and i do have freckles!! I am 18 years old. But as for rohon he doesnt look like us, he is like my mum. There are five children all together and 4 of us look like a McDine and he is the only one!! Its really nice to know that we have a really big family!

We are a family of McDine's in Ky. My father is Clifford McDine and his father was Ralph McDine. They claim we originated from Ireland. I have 2 brothers and no sisters. My brother Dennis (Elsmere KY) has a daughter Devin McDine (Cincinnati Ohio) and a son Derrick McDine (Cincinnati Ohio), my brother Jeff (Burlington Ky) has 4 boys Craig (Covington Ky), Chad (Burlington Ky), Cory (Burlington Ky) and Carter McDine (Burlington Ky), and I, Steve (Union Ky)have a daughter, Stephanie and a son Steven (both Union Ky). I also have a distant cousin who lives in Union Ky his name is Keith and he has 2 daughters Heather McDine and Tonya McDine. So there are a few of us here in this area. At least 19 of us right here. I don't think any of us have freckles, dimples, but not freckles. By the way my wife is typing this up for me, I'm not as good on the computer as she is. My mom is 82 yrs old and my dad is 84 yrs old, I myself am the youngest son and I am 44 yrs old. It's pretty cool to talk with all these McDine's from around the world. Good day to all of you!

  We are also McDines but were in the Pittsburgh area. Have also noticed McDines in New York. Grandfather came over to America near the turn of the century. Grandfathers may have been cousins(???)

    I am the wife of Jeff McDine, brother of Steve who posted a couple of years ago. I have a correction to what was posted earlier. I believe Floyd was Jeff's grandfather and Noah his great grandfather.
    I was in Ireland last year and asked around about the McDine name. No one I asked had heard of McDines. I don't believe that means they are not from Ireland, though. It just doesn't seem to be a very common name. I know it is uncommon in this area. The only McDines we know of are his known relatives.

      I forgot to mention a coupld of details. Noah McDine was born April 23, 1969 in West Union, OH. Floyd Henry McDine was born Jan 26, 1897 also in West Union, OH.

Hmmm very interesting, haven't looked at this since 2003. Really cool to listen to the 'Mcdine' stories, I laugh coz I have never met any other Mcdine apart from the 3 I have in my family. Met up with my nan, first time I met her was 2004, she got married in Ireland and then moved to Newcastle, seems like a few of the Irish moved to Newcastle geordie land. Is anyone ginger here? Cos I know my Dad was with lilly white skin! Does make me wonder...
