Ellen McGuigan & Patrick McCarron
Posted by Ian <ian.jones@intechsolutions.co.uk> on Wed, 09 Mar 2005, in response to McGuigan, posted by Denise on Fri, 25 Oct 2002
Hi Denise,I came across your entries on the internet (admittedly a few years ago) and was wondering if you are still actively researching the family tree? Your email address doesn't appear to work.
My family is from Liverpool, UK, after a Charles McHarron who emigrated from Nova Scotia in approx 1880 (don't have the exact year to hand).
In the census we found he says that his father is Patrick McHarron, but we believe he may not have been able to write his name and that's where the spelling mistake comes from - there are a lot of McCarron's in PEI and Nova Scotia but the only McHarrons appear to be descendants of Charles. This appears to be our main problem - actually finding the correct surname!
In your notes on the internet I see that you found a marriage of Patrick & Ellen on October 18, 1853 at St Joseph's R.C. Church in Kellys Cross, PEI, and you mention their children - did you ever find out the names of the children, and if so was one a Charles? The only problem with this link I can see is that we believe Charles was born in 1850/51, which was a few years before the marriage and of course a rarity in those days!
If it transpires that Patrick and Ellen are the parents of our Charles 'McHarron' I have an extensive family tree from Liverpool I can let you have!
Kind Regards,
Ian
(P.S. If anyone else has information I'll be glad to hear from you!)
