I am trying to link Thomas Macy (1608-1682) to Hugh de Coddinton Massey (1389-1456). Thomas Macy father, Thomas, was born 1585. Can't seem to verify the line which Ancestry.com illustrates as John de Coddington Massey was the grandfather of Thomas Macy who settled on Nantucket.

I too am interested in this. I have traced my ancestors back to Chilmark and I also agree that the name Macey came from Macy and that in turn developed from Mascy (as in Hamos de Mascy). However, there is a huge gap in time between about 1200/1300 and 1500/1600. I think part of the problem is the different spelling of the name. Macey, Macy, Massey, Massy, Meysey, Maysie, Masci, Mascy etc. I have been informed though that this is normal as names differed depending on who wrote them down. Massey is an English spelling, Masci a latin variation etc.
Any further info would be excellent.
