Ruby Lillian Matthews

I am trying to find some ancestors for my Great Grandma Alexander. She was born Ruby Lillian Matthews in about 1885. She had three brothers Clyde, Carl, and one I don't have a name for. They were orphaned when their mother died and their father abandoned them. The kids were moved from foster home to foster home until they were grown. Eventually Ruby married Virgil James William Alexander, my Great Grandfather and they had six children one of whom was my Grandfather. I am trying to build a family tree but have hit a major dead end with Great Grandma Alexander. If anyone out there might know anything about the Matthews family I would appreciate any information you can provide. Thanks
