Lost: Carl Lindquist and Family
Posted by Mark Hadlund <KRAM95@cox.net> on Mon, 13 Oct 2008
I'm having trouble with the family of my great-grandfather. Carl Anton Lindquist, b. 18 August 1860 in Melby, Sweden. His wife is Kristina Louisa Pettersdotter, b. 17 September 1856 in Skede Sweden. He was born Karl Anton Andersson but changed it to Lindquist sometime before emigrating.Children:
Carl Lindquist, b. 27 February 1888 in Sweden;
Helga Lindquist, b. 13 June 1890 in Horeda, Sweden;
Ellen Lindquist, b. 30 January 1893 in Bjorko, Sweden;
Mable Lindquist, b. 09 May 1896 in Norra, Sweden;
Erik Lindquist, b. 27 June 1900 in Bjorko, Sweden.
The Americanized version of their names were taken from their arrival record of 12 June 1903 where they were met by Carl's brother Gustaf Hedlund. I have found three possible clues but nothing conclusive. 1: I have a WW1 draft record for a Carl Lindquist that indicates that of of the children might have settled in Chicago. 2: The 1920 Federal Census indicates that a Carl Lindquist and his family is in Chicago, but A) I have no idea whom he married nor the names of his children and B) the record states Carl was born in Illinois. 3: I found a death record for an Erik Lindquist stating that he died in 1970, but his birth year is wrong. Since neither sources are not 100% accurate, the possibility exists that they are my relatives.
