William Briggs of Edinburgh Scotland

My direct line is from Daniel Briggs who was born in Montpelier VT around 1817. He is buried at Forrestville, IA. He married Sarah Story Libby who was born in Augusta, ME around 1825.

I know that Daniel's father was named William and that he lived to age 95 and was run down by horses. It has been passed down from a letter from a family member who recalls that her father Daniel mentioned that William was born in Edinburgh Scotlan. The woman also said that Daniel's mother died when Daniel was only 11 years old.

I'm trying to find out what Daniel's mother's name was and any additional information about William. I see your William came from a different town in Scotland, but am writing in case it is the same person.
