Nembhards from St. Elizabeth

Posted by Claudia Moses <claudia.moses@cox.net> on Sun, 22 Feb 2009, in response to Nembhard of Jamaica, posted by Elaine Nembhard on Sat, 06 Jan 2007

My grandmother's maiden name was Nembhard. As related to me by my mother, my grandmother is from Nembhard Town (Comma Penn?). Her father's name was David Nemmbhard (described as fair skinned with gray eyes), married to Mary (nee McDonald). David would have been born around 1845. He was supposedly around 60 when he and Mary married. I have been trying to research my family history (Nembhards, Cains, McDonalds, Gordons) from St. Elizabeth and the role slavery played in that area.
