Subject: Araguza origin

That is exactly what I thought when I saw your posting. One of my surnames in Raguz and its origin is very complicated to explain here. The fact is that the first one was named originaly Vecelicic and was taken from Croatia to Ragusa in Italy where he lost his original surname. When he returned to Croatia he was no longer Vecelicic but Aragusa that means "from Ragusa". Also what is now Croatia was some 500 years ago know as the Republic of Ragusa. From Aragusa comes my surname Raguz and I guess also Araguza, though I am not sure. It could also be originaly from Italy. All this information is written in a book of the Raguz family, written in Croatia. Hope I have shed some light in the origin of your surname. Keep posting about it!
