Parece que el origen comprobado más remoto está precisamente en la parroquia de Cabral, cerca de Vigo, en Galicia. Aún hoy el pueblo se llama Cabral y se dice que de ahi el apellido se extendió a Portugal y también hacia Asturias.

Después se extendió practicamente por todas las colonias españolas y portuguesas, siendo especialmente abundante en Brasil y también en Santo Domingo. Hay Cabral en Argentina y también en México (yo soy mexicano).
