It comes from the term Breast. The Breasts changed their last name after entering America in 1312 b.c. Upon realizing they looked like MORONS "Mr and Mrs Breast" in this new land; they dropped the "ast" and decided "ss" was close enough to their orginial surname, but would not cause utter embarrassment.
