My mother was born in Spartanburg in 1913. Her maiden name is Roxie M. Clowney. Her father was Larry Clowney. They moved from South Carolina in 1928 during the depression and settled in Detroit, Michigan. Mom's mother's maiden was Burnside. Larry had 9 brothers. Every year we have a family reunion in November in Michigan, and another reunion in Greenville, SC in July. We have traced our family tree thus far into the mid-1800's. We have picture of my great-great grandmother. She reminds me of an elderly schoolteacher or librarian. I would be happy to share other bits of information. E mail me if there is an interest.
