Tom:
Many Lussignani's origin go back to the period of the "Republica di Venezia". I know that my grandfather who was born in the late 1800, during the Austro Hungarian occupation, considered himself Austrian, but the origin was definetly Italian.

Gianfranco,
My grandfather John Poserina swore that we were Austrian descent and would get indignant if someone inquired if he was Italian. However, ee have traced our family origin to the 12th Century and believe our family root name comes from "Passerini" which is a bunting/sparrow unique to Italy. Our family ran the lighthouses in Lussin Piccolo for generations as well as family whose trade was shipbuilding. My great grandfather and his brothers and sisters emigrated to the United States and Canada as wooden shipbuilding was coming to a close and the Cosulich family who was the largest shipbuilder in Lussin moved their family shipbuilding business to Trieste I believe. I sincerely wish to visit Lussino someday and visit the family cemetery.
