Subject: I am from Lussin
Posted by:Marina <Mareblue42@aol.com> on Wed, 29 Nov 2006, in response to Lussin Geneology, posted by Thomas Poserina on Thu, 04 May 2006
I am from Lussinpiccolo, in the island of Lussino.
There are a family there by the name Poserina. I know a lady by the name Poserina and her first name is Giannina. She lives in Astoria, NY. I don't know her address.
Yes, S. Martin is the name of the Cemetery in that small town.
I knew that many of our people came to Philadelphia.
Being an island, most of the men were either shipbuilders, sailors and captains.
It is a shame that now that is Croatia, a lot of the informations may be changed in the books regarding the names. I just give you a small exemple: About four years ago, I had to do a Citizenship for inheritance purposes. The Croatian Goverment gave me a last name that i never saw before. My last name is Nicolich and the Croatians gave me Niccoli. On my mother citizenship (she always lived there)her last name was written Nikolic.
The dialect that has been spoken for century, is now almost lost as the old people are gone.
Is too bad that when another country take over, part of the history is gone.
I hope you are having luck in finding your ancestry.
By the way, I live in Allentown, PA.
Marina.
