Subject: Cattarinich shipbuilders and sailorsDuring that research, I have been uncovering several details about Lussinpiccolo and its seafaring heritage. It has become very interesting and I am trying to learn more. Recently, I came across records of many ships built at Lussinpiccolo in the mid 19th century, several of which were built and/or captained by Cattarinichs. Between building ships and owning and captaining them there are over 2 dozen vessels in which the Cattarinichs were involved.
One vessel, named Plod, was built by the Cattarinichs at Lussinpiccolo in 1861. This was a small brig rigged vessel of 414 tons. It was the ship that brought Matteo Martinolich to New Orleans in 1883.
Now, here is a question. Does anyone have any other knowledge of the ships they built or sailed? Any old photos, or other memorabilia from the shipyard etc? Now that I have learned a little about them, I would very much like to include some material on them in the Martinolich family history I am planning to write.
If I can share any other information from my research, I will gladly do so. Thanks for any help.

I would like to discuss some collaboration if you would like.
I would be most happy to collaborate on some Lussinpiccolo research. Please email me at rus3466@yahoo.com and we can toss it around a bit.

I don't know if this email will reach you, but I happened to be on the web just "surfing" and I came upon your note from November 2006.
I was born in Trieste but my Mamma was born in Lussinpiccolo, and my maternal grandfather was Giovanni Poserina. He was the lighthouse keeper there for 40 years.
I miss speaking the "Lussignano" dialect ... now my Mamma is dead and there's no one here (New Hampshire) with whom I can converse in my native dialect.
Take care ...
Elisabetta
Mi son nato a Lussin e parlo il nostro dialetto locale. Se la se vol far sentir, me faria tanto piacer.
I cannot. Mais ... si vous pouvez échanger un peu en français, ça irait pour moi.
Je cherche des moyens pour obtenir des informations sur la famille Cattarinich et serais reconnaissant si vous aviez des suggestions.
Merci

Yours sincerely,

He was a ship captain with a commercial license to navigate the most important ships of the time.
I can find very little about him as he doesn't seem to have settled in Quebec.
His only son Jos was a Mtl Canadians' goalie and later owner.
I would very much appreciate any clues you might have about him.
He came from Lussi-Piccolo.
The bark Dante, 1877 of 535 tons, the brig Plod, 1861 of 414 tons, the bark Euro, 1875 of 704 tons, and the bark Vodja, 1870 of 427 tons.

Who has some informations about this man?
The father of Giuseppe was Giovanni Cattarinich and the mother was Catherine Moreglia.
Thanks for your help!
Some say he died in Bresil but I don't know that for a fact.
So point me in any direction and I'll keep tying.
Thank you very much !
