Beemer Families-Canada-Porter Co., IN, Muskingum Co.,OH and Dodge Co., NE.
Posted by Dorothy Alvis <dka28@hotmail.com> on Fri, 03 Oct 2003
Need help identify the following BEEMER families:
1850 Census Index, Valparaiso, Porter Co.,IN.: David BEEMER, 42, b. CN; wf. Louisa 27, b. CN (probably a 2nd wf); children: Levi, 15 CN; Daniel, 13 CN; Jacob 7, and William, 5, both born OH. Appear to have moved from Canada to Ohio, between 1837 & 1842.
Is the following, the above Daniel Beemer?
1880 Census Fremont, Dodge Co., Nebraska: Daniel BEEMER, 43, b. CN; wife Elizabeth, 30, b. KY.; Children: David, Herman, & Wm. all b. IA. and Jessie (male, b. NE).
1885 State Census NEbraska: shows Daniel R. BEEMER, 48,b. Ontario; wf. Elizabeth N., 35, b. KY.; children: Sylvester D., 12, b. IA; Herman R., 10, b. IA.; Alfred, 8, b. IN; Thomas J. (no age or place); Jesse J., 6, b. NE; Jennie L., 4, b. NE & Daniel, 1, b. NE. It appears Daniel served in the Civil War, as Pvt. Co I 7th Ia. Inf, from Muscatine Co., IA; and also in Co H 6th IA Cav. In this latter company was also a Joseph BEEMER. A Levi BEEMER served in the 7th Regt. IA Cav. The 1890 Veterans Census shows Daniel's widow, Elizabeth. His ailment is listed as "wound in hip". The 1880 Census Fremont, Dodge Co., NE shows a Levi BEEMER, 42, b. IN; wf Mary, 36, b. IN and children: Willie, 13, Ida 12, both b. IA; Mortimer, 10, Rosie 6, both born MO and Harry, 4, b. IA.
The 1850 Census of Valparaiso, Porter Co., Indiana also shows a Joseph BEEMER, 66, b. NJ; wife Mary, 61, b. NJ and children: Thomas 18, b. CN; Sophia 15, b. CN. Need any bit of data on any of these families. Those in Fremont, Dodge Co., Nebraska are said to be related to my line of Beemers' from Sussex Co., NJ to Luzerne Co, PA to Lee Co., IL and then some to Cuming and Burt Co's , Nebraska.
