I grew up in Wise, NC. There is a Betty Davis that lives in Manson, NC. There was a Dempsey Davis that lived in Wise, NC, but he is deceased. Surely, you are looking in the right area. Attempt to receive information from any of the old records at the Warrenton Court House. Also check North Warren High School/Warren County Training School records.
