I am not sure if I could be of help to you, as to start in the beginning with you, since the last names are different. It would take more than email. I will give you a few suggestions. Take your parents, grandparents, great grandparents or as far as you can go back, and if they are still living, and ask them some questions about what they can remember about their family history. Taping the conversation is the most helpful. The census is helpful. You might want to go to a geneology library and ask the staff to help you know where to start. Also a book on searching for your ancestors would help you. We have been able to get as far back as a person who was a child during slavery. We went to the town where my husband was born to start looking in the library and in the census. Good luck! If you have any specific questions, I will try to help you.Responses
