Pat On The Back

October 8, 2000 is a significant date because it marks the seventh anniversary of one of our oldest regional forums, the Scot/Irish Special Interest Group (SIG). Ever since that date, the SIG has been run by two very hard working ladies, Linda Hjelm (GFS HOST  Linda)and Linda Cooper (HOST GFS Lin). They are both very much deserving of our coveted Pat on the Back award for a job well done.

Over the years both Lindas have guided this group and provided excellant help to all those that have visited on Friday nights at 10 PM ET. They work together as a team to help members with the sometimes very tricky parishes, baronies and poor law unions that make up the counties of Ireland. They try to make sense out of the chaos created when Cromwell cleared the northern counties and repopulated it. Probably their largest contributions come with their understanding of the great migration to this country during the potato famine and the industrial revolution. Understanding the history and migration patterns, they have brought much more understanding to all that visit their forum.

For all the wonderful work and all those they have helped over the years, I am honored to bestow the PAT ON THE BACK award to both Linda Hjelm and Linda Cooper.
