Soon we will be providing the Forum with a new look and new content. The Content Team is responsible for providing the Forum with content, articles, resources, and files that will be of interest to the Members.

Resource Center - The gateway to the resources in the Genealogy Forum. The Center is currently expanding, and provides articles to assist the member in using the Forum for research, as well as many helpful resources relating to location and specific records.

Writers and Columnists - Editorial assistance for writers. Provides venue for writers to contribute. The person you want to talk to if you're interested in publishing for the Forum.

Library - Primarily files and gedcoms. Generally text files, these include many county records, births, census records, cemetery records, etc. These files are generally longer than 1 1/2 pages and are kept in the library for downloading.

Newsletter - The GF News. Contact Carol for the monthly theme. Carol is always looking for new articles.

Internet Center - Links to files on the Internet to help with your research.

No, I'm not referring to cobwebs and pet hair. All of us in the Genealogy Forum have become more aware of viruses and the like, the FTP Space is the place on AOL, and under each screen name, where a troublemaker could hide a file.

You may be thinking, "I've never created a website on AOL." Or possibly you have a website under one or more screen names but not under all of them. The following will help you to determine if your FTP Space (where you would store an AOL based website) has been compromised. You may not feel comfortable clicking around in this area of AOL or you may want to have someone 'with you' to answer questions as you seek answers. If so, please contact HOST GFS Suzanne who would be happy to help you.

Go to KW: FTP

Click on GO TO FTP (the icon on the right-hand side)

On the next page, scroll down to members.aol.com and click on it

You will have a text "Connected to members.aol.com" (no need to read it at this point). Click OK

Now you have reached your FTP space. If you have never uploaded a web page, you should see:

"date" README ->/usersFAQ.txt

"date" Private

If you never uploaded a web page and you see anything else, you should delete it.

To DELETE, highlight the unwanted file, click on Utilities (an icon at the bottom), then click on the Delete icon.

REMEMBER: No one will have access to your FTP space unless you have a folder there called "INCOMING" or if your password has been stolen.
