Mary Elizabeth Jackson was my grandmother and she married Henry Clay Knight. Her father's name was Andrew Jackson. I am trying to find out if we are really related to Andrew Jackson the President. Everybody in the family says we are, but I keep running into dead ends. Her children were Milton Knight Sr., Hazel Knight, Preston Knight, Lorraine Knight, Clarence Knight, Virginia Knight, Marvin Knight and Wilmer Lee Knight Sr., my Dad. Grandmom was born March 23 1891. She past away on Nov. 1955. I was born in May 1958 and never got to see her or to talk to her. So, if you can help me I would appreciate it greatly.

You can E-mail me at Ktwirler3@cs.com

Thank you in advance,
Karen Friend, The last granddaughter born to this family.

I would like very much to find out about my grandmother, Mary D. Clark. I believe she was born in MS in the 1920s. She married Lindsey Wright, Sr. My mother was born in 1946 in Sledge, MS and was about 9 when grandmother passed away. My mother was Minne Lee Wright, and some of her siblings are Danny, Willie Lee, Lettie Mae, Lindsey, Ella Mae, Viola, and Peter.

Any assistance you could give me on where to start my journey to find information on my grandmother would be most helpful!

I love the article listing female nicknames. I am very much interested in popular names for "grandmother." I'm certain there are many nicknames used for grandmother that are more personal and modern than "Grandmother." I would appreciate any help, since I am going to be new at this, and I'm not ready to be called "Grandmother."

Thanks for any help.

Do you have any suggestions of how I can buy books or albums made specially for genealogy records and photos? I want to make up 4 albums or books with these records for my children as gifts. Anything you could suggest would be of help.

This was an e-mail received by one of our hosts following a chat

Enjoyed last nights chat with you regarding lodging, autos, food etc. in and around Providence.

First though some background:

I recently had a request from a friend of a chat room cuzzie for help in finding lodging in Providence for the N. G. S. annual meeting and convention from 30 May to 3 June 2000. While preparing some names and phone numbers for her, I realized that I was preparing a valuable resource for others who may also be experiencing difficulties in obtaining lodging etc in price ranges they want. Another problem as the event draws nearer, is availability period in the places listed in the brochure. They will obviously fill up first but they are not the only facilities around.

I have a list of Inns and motels, Bed & Breakfasts, etc., and also have a list of auto rental offices. I will be adding restruants, up-scale grill & bar chains, etc., and scenic and historic attractions.

As stated last night in your chat and in Ancestral Digs, any GFS who gets a request for help or even notices comments expressing dificulties in obtaining any of these services, may , if they wish refer these folks to me at BLTBROWN96@AOL.COM, and I'll be glad to help out if I can. You may check my AOL profile, and one other piece of personal info, I covered the N. East as a jewelry salesman from Pittsburgh east and D. C. north. I later covered all of SE. New England (Connecticut border, Eastern Mass. and all of RI {no smart comments about all of RI please}) for 30 years. I know how unnerving it can be to be in a new area and not be sure of where to go for food, lodging and the many items we don't think about until they are needed. With a bit of luck I'll have this finished by Friday of this week and can put it into an E-mail and send it to anyone wishing such assistance. I can also keep it current by checking local availability.

I look forward to seeing you and the other staff members and cuzzies who attend the convention here in Providence. Yes, the city and the area are as beautiful as the TV show make them out to be.

Thank you for all your help year round by giving all of us who are searchers, great tips and help where possible.

"Keep seeking, it is there somewhere"

Bob of BLTBROWN@aol.com

And this is from our own GFS Rip@aol.com

If anyone needs a translation, I have a friend who is willing to do limited translations from Indonesian to English. She is not online, so you will have to send your requests to me. Please allow several weeks for an answer - she is also a single mother with a full time job and 5 kids (G).
