OK, what is this you ask? This is a new column we hope to develop addressing Today's Genealogy Software Products. GFSBeverly@aol.com will be giving us a tip or answering a question every month based on letters she received from you. Following is her introduction to this column--we hope it is something you will enjoy and find benificial.

HI EVERYBODY - It's a new millenium and we should all be gearing up for the "NEW" technologies available to us for genealogical research. I was just informed that the Genealogy sites get the hit the 2nd highest times on the net. HOOORAY!!!!

Okay - GSPs (Genealogy Software) is changing too and soon you won't be able to tell them apart. What function one has that proves to be a big seller suddenly appears in most of the others. So - here's some thoughts about GSP for beginners, intermediates and advanced user. (Send me questions anytime)

1. Beginners - check out your software and find out how many letters you can enter in the last name field. Is it sufficient? Especially if you're from Russia or the Baltic area?

2. Intermediate - What are the abbreviations used by your software when it make a GEDCOM? (10 or so anyway)

3. Advanced. Does your software allow you to edit or write the statements used in compiling a book? For example - How does it handle "Will Probated" - Can you write the statement " He/She had a will probated on -------------------------- date? Check it out.

I'm available for GSP help at GFSBeverly@aol.com. Good Luck
