I
have found a couple of neat
websites, which I think are and
will be helpful.
One
is http://www.streetmap.co.uk/
and it helps locate streets in
different towns. I haven't found
my gggrandfather THOMPSON through
this site, as I don't think
Whitegate had streets when he
lived there.
Another
site I found on a newslist was
this Austrian telephone directory
link.

Top
space enter surname.
Middle space enter First name,
title, etc.
Bottom space enter the place.
Then click on "Suche Starten"
button
I
checked it out with the name of
my grandfather OEHMIG who
according to his Declaration of
Intent papers gave up allegiance
to the Emperor of Austria. I did
find one OHEMIG listed, so now I
will write a letter to her and
hope for a
connection.
