While Looking in the Archives....

While looking in the Maine State Archives, for some NORWOOD family information (looking for my Dad's birthparents). I decided to see what else I could find...Well, one never knows what is in the old musty files, does one?

What I found when searching for my birth certificate was the following: name...George Allen (next word was blocked out?) and Howe (written in with a pen). Hmmm, wonder why that is...Well a bit further down the form was the birthdate...May 10, 1934...wait the 10 is crossed out and 9 is marked above IT?? What is going on?

Well, this is interesting....Mother's name, is correct, so is fathers, hmmm.

Let's see what else I can find...Mom and Dad's marriage certificate, should be in 1933, Mom always said Nov 1, 1933. searching....searching....nope it isn't there??? Wonder why? Lets go to marriages list...there it is Elsie and George on ......wait this says Nov 2, 1936...hmmmm?

Moral or results of this story? You never know what family secrets you will find in the Archives...and at my age, I don't care if they were married or not at the time of my birth, I was raised by my Mom and Dad, and both have gone to the great beyond...and I am OK with that. George Howe, or should I say George A. Goodwin/Howe..
