MICHIGAN

Submitted by Host GFS Jill

Did you know that during World War II, German POWs were held at a camp in Shiawassee County? Do you know about the great fire that destroyed many farms in Lapeer County? And speaking of fires, did you know that lumber from West Michigan trees practically rebuilt the city of Chicago after the great Chicago fires?

These things and more you would know if you were to visit our Michigan Special Interest Group chat on Monday evenings here in the Genealogy Forum. We meet for an hour each week, beginning at 9:00 PM Eastern and most weeks we are in open chat, just sharing about our Michigan (and related) kin, finds, questions, stories, and even the weather!

You are more than welcome to stop in and learn more about the history and people of the 26th state. Michigan may be cold this time of year but you'll get a warm welcome in our chat room! Join hosts Maria, Mikki, and Jill along with regulars and visitors, and bring your surnames, counties, and questions!
