This
month we are talking about
Records and What's Available.
When I started this forum about
14 years ago this month, there
was very little available to do
research with on computers. The
easiest tools available then to
work with genealogy data were
spreadsheets and word processors.
Since then we have seen the
development of powerful genealogy
programs like Family Tree Maker,
Reunion, Personal Ancestor File,
the Master Genealogist and Legacy
to name but a few. We can now
talk to people around the country
and the world about where to find
records and how to use them by
visiting our chat rooms and
message boards. Major data bases
are showing up at a rapid pace in
places like Genalogy.com,
Ancestry.com, NEHGS.com, and
Familysearch.com to name but a
few have brought the primary and
secondary records to your
computer. Other things that have
become available are the numerous
CD ROMs that are available today.
I
suggest to you that this is the
golden age of Genealogy and the
Golden Gate Genealogy Forum is
your beginning and ending point
of your daily and weekly
research. I ask you to let us
help you find where the
information is and how to use it.
And we you have found something,
come back to the chat rooms and
share your joy with your friends
in the chat rooms and message
boards.
