New
Year's Baby
Submitted
by HostGFSAcadian@aol.com
My Acadian grandmother passed on a tradition in our family from her own childhood. Grandma Nettie died before I was born, so I never knew her.
We did not hang our stockings on Christmas Eve, but instead, hung them up for the New Year's Baby to fill. New Year's Day our stockings were filled with oranges, apples and mixed nuts in the shell, a peppermint candy cane or two. Until my daughter felt she was "too big" for such things, I did the same for her.
