All I Want for Christmas

All I want for Christmas are your family group sheets,
Your family group sheets, your family group sheets.
Gee, if I could only have your family group sheets,
Then I would have a Merry Christmas!

It's been quite awhile since we first talked
And you said that you would send me information...
Gosh, oh gee, how happy I'd be
I'm not a fan of one-way communication!

I don't mean to be a pest or harass you,
Harass you, harass you,
I don't mean to be a pest or harass you,
But I really need those family group sheets!

I need to know was it Jack or Joe,
Or was it Fred, George, Bill, or was it Uncle Francis?
Who was your great grandpa? Are we related after all?
I need help filling in fam'ly tree branches!

I'll gladly reimburse you copy fees and postage costs,
Copy fees and postage costs, copy fees and postage costs.
I don't expect something for nothing, I have much to share.
Collaborating will make a Merry Christmas!

Perhaps you think you haven't much I need to know,
But I assure you every little piece helps!
It takes more than just names that match and dates that seem to fit
To put together an accurate family history!

So much has been lost with the passage of time
And the failure of most folks to keep in touch.
Our lives might seem quite dull and of no import
But one can't know which mundane things will mean so much!

One day, when down the road our bones have turned to dust,
Have turned to dust, have turned to dust.
Our family will know how we lived if we will only learn to share
Pieces of ourselves through family history.

It's true some may say, she was a wacky ole dame,
Who seemed to care more for the dead than for the living.
But time will tell, if she spent her time well
Please remember it is the season to be giving!

Family history to wish me Merry Christmas!
