The Federation of Genealogical Societies
2006 Conference
Boston, MA
August 30 to September 2, 2006
End of Summer Plans? Come to the FGS/NEHGS Genealogy Conference.
Mark your calendars for this coming August 30 to September 2, 2006 and plan to be in Boston, the Birthplace of American Genealogy, for this exciting event. The Federation of Genealogical Societies and the local sponsor, The New England Historic Genealogical Society, are hosting this spectacular conference.
Almost 350 sessions of interest to family historians, writer, editors, professional genealogists, lecturers, librarians, archivists, historians, columnists, booksellers, and others are being offered. For one conference fee you can attend sessions for four days straight. A huge Exhibit Hall will be filled with booth after booth of vendors and exhibitors of genealogical software, books (new, old, rare), charts, maps, CDs, DVDs, gadgets, and more. The presenters and exhibitors will be from the U.S., Canada, England, Ireland, and Scotland.
Luncheons and dinners are another important part of these conferences and for a reasonable extra fee, anyone can attend these. (It’s a good way to be sure you have a plan and a seat for lunch!)
It is easy to join in on this event by checking out the FGS website at http://www.fgs.org with secure online registration to make it fast and easy for you. For continuing conference details, go to http://www.FGSConference.blogspot.com to see the frequent updates provided by the conference committee, area record custodians, speakers, seasoned conference goers, lovers of Boston and New England, and other contributors. The blog has covered the hotel, travel agent, local transportation, convention center, tourism links, extended info on lecturers and their topics, and meal events. This is the place to check for additional info, last minute details, and so much more. The blog will contain details of other conference special events as they are finalized.
A special hint: If you register by July 1st (postmark date or online) you still can save $30.00 ($155.00 fee vs. $180.00 after that date). That pays for four full days of lectures and some special events.
The Conference Committee looks forward to seeing you in just four months.
GenealogyForum.com will also be there and also looks forward to seeing you in just four months.
