1886 Railroad Accident, Clay Co., NE


Six killed in railroad accident--
at Railroad Disaster at Deweese. A construction train hit a bull near the house of George Sheppard while backing down the tracks taking 95 workers to dinner. The cars were thrown into a draw 20', killing six men: R.H. Marvin, hotel-keeper at Deweese, George Burke, St. Louis, Dennis O'Conner, Weston, MO, Dennis Hamilton, Michigan, Robert Collins, England, and Thomas Kelly. 10/19/1886.
